LMHQ is a nonprofit organization based in Lower Manhattan focused on connecting the area’s “makers, doers and thinkers.” In order to do this, the organization offers event and meeting spaces for creatives and entrepreneurs to collaborate and grow their ideas into tangible things. In 2005, the Alliance for Downtown New York started LMHQ, which is short for Lower Manhattan Headquarters. Since the beginning, LMHQ has guided the over 800 creative companies located below Chambers Street. The organization holds events like fireside chats, literary salons, networking breakfasts and yoga sessions, which help like-minded individuals to connect with one another. LMHQ also rents out free small meting spaces or larger event meeting spaces to other nonprofit organizations. Applications for these spaces are open at specified times during the year
