Best Children's Dance School Winner
If you have a child who is interested in dance, The 92nd Street Y is the perfect place to get them started. They offer an enormous range of classes for both children and adults, in a wide variety of disciplines. Whether your child is a beginner, intermediate, or advanced, they can study ballet, ballroom, choreo, hip hop, tap, jazz, and many other kinds of dance. And no child is too young to start dancing. The 92nd Street Y offers family dance for children ages one to three, which gives parents an opportunity to create dances along with their children, helping them discover a love of movement.

Best Children's Gymnastics Gym Winner
The 92nd Street Y has an incredible gymnastics program that is open to children beginning at twelve months. Classes occur in two facilities: the Junior Gym, and the Studio in the Sky, the latter of which is designed for those who may be hoping to pursue gymnastics at a more intensive level. The 92nd Street Y offers multiple ways to engage with the sport: afterschool classes, open to students three and up; competitive gymnastics team; the 92NY exhibition team; and private instruction. No matter what level your child chooses to pursue, they will develop skills such as flexibility, strength, and balance, and gain the comfort in their bodies that is essential for a child’s growth.

Best Music Lessons Winner
In addition to its other exceptional programming, The 92nd Street Y offers outstanding music classes for students of all levels and ages. There are music lessons offered for different instruments — such as cello, guitar, jazz keyboard, violin, drums, ukulele, xylophone and piano — as well as voice lessons and musical theater workshops. As well as those in-person classes, streaming classes make it possible to engage with music from outside of The 92nd Street Y’s physical space. Interested parties might sign up for a Musical Analysis class — such as Musical Analysis of Popular Song: Rogers and Hammerstein; or Musical Analysis: Schubert — which offer a way to engage with music from the comfort of one’s own home.

The 92nd Street Y offers a renowned preschool program, established in 1938. Their environment is warm and nurturing, helping to facilitate a child’s creativity, joy, and curiosity. They follow a play-and-inquiry-based curriculum, which is founded on four basic principles: respect, relationships, research, and resilience. The program is open to children 2.3 to 5 years, and The 92nd Street Y has a parenting center available for younger children. The staff comes to the room with years of experience teaching children both individually and in groups; they are well-equipped to provide the enrichment that is so signature to the program at The 92nd Street Y, and to encourage an engagement with the arts, movement, and more.
