The Humanist Project

For performers interested in training as well as theater, The Humanist Project offers a slate of classes and workshops built around play, presence and physical performance. Its Fall 2026 schedule includes an eight-week Shakespeare course, a three-day clown intensive and physical-acting workshops. The company says its classes welcome actors at all experience levels and are led by internationally trained teaching artists. Training is part of a broader theater practice that includes original productions, weekly clown classes and free community play spaces. Rather than treating classes as a separate program, the organization places them at the heart of its larger approach to acting, performance and artistic development.

The Humanist Project puts play at the center of its approach to theater, combining original productions with actor training, workshops and community play spaces. The New York City-based company describes its work as theater rooted in play, presence and human connection, with classes welcoming actors of all experience levels. Its Fall 2026 training lineup includes an eight-week Shakespeare class, a three-day clown intensive and physical-acting workshops led by internationally trained teaching artists. Beyond ticketed work, The Humanist Project hosts Day of Play, a free community gathering built around games, movement and creative play. The organization’s programming offers both performance opportunities and hands-on ways for artists to develop their craft.
