Morningside Montessori School is an independent, not-for-profit Montessori preschool providing education for young children on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. The school’s program is organized around Montessori principles, including hands-on learning, purposeful classroom materials, independence and developmentally appropriate activities. Montessori classrooms allow children to work individually and in small groups while teachers guide rather than simply lecture, and the school’s program is designed around that educational philosophy. As they say, their mission is to inspire young minds, which they do through a cultivation of curiosity, joy, compassion, and independence. School is open for children as young as twelve months, and as old as five years; each program is designed for where children are developmentally at that age.
